LINKDISK / BUSINESS

How could LinkDisk replace OneDrive at work?

Business is intended as an alternative for organizations that want control over files, access and storage. The familiar Windows folders Documents, Pictures and Desktop are part of that goal. Connecting those folders is not an available feature yet.

01

Which folders would the client include?

The intended Windows client would recognize each person's Documents, Pictures and Desktop folders. The organization could decide which folders to protect; employees would not have to find a local path for every Space. Connecting, pausing and disconnecting a folder must be visible and reversible.

02

What happens to existing files?

A move must happen in stages. Local files stay in place until their contents are safely transferred and acknowledged. A conflict or failed upload must never silently replace or delete a file. A controlled move from OneDrive and automatic sync across computers still need to be built and proven.

03

Who manages access?

Files live in Spaces with explicit read or edit rights. Employees see only places they can access; an organization manages members and can revoke access. European infrastructure is a firm requirement for production data managed by LinkDisk.

04

Is this a one-for-one copy of OneDrive?

No. The aim is a useful workplace file alternative with a file layer that is not tied to one storage provider. Parity with every OneDrive or Office feature is not promised. We will publish the migration path and exact capabilities before Business becomes generally available.
